There’s an ambulance service in Mobile, AL that has three vintage, working ambulances parked in front of their office. Since I have a thing for professional cars, I stopped off while on my way back from Atlanta earlier this month and took some pictures.

This is a 1950 Meteor Pontiac. Before they were merged to become Miller-Meteor, Meteor made ambulances and hearses.

Next we have a M&M Cadillac. Not sure of the exact year, but would assume late 60's.

Lastly, there was a 70's Miller-Meteor Cadillac.

Not often you see an old ambulance in good running order, much less three from the same company! Props to Newman’s Ambulance Service for appreciating what these cars are and keeping them around for others to see.

I always thought it was kind of weird to get picked up in an ambulance that also doubles as a hearse.

Lol. Fair enough. My wife and I got married on Halloween and left in the back of a hearse, so I guess you could say it doesn’t really bother me.

I was impressed. They even had period correct gear in the backs of them. I took some pictures but they didn’t really come out all that great.

Wait....you love professional cars too?! I have a 1969 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Classic Duplex

That red rig looks like a 1968 Miller Meteor. The gold one looks to be a 75 or 76 Superior

OH MY GOD really?!?! Yes! My wife and I want a 59 Miller-Meteor to restore together and take to Cruisin The Coast and stuff. We got married on Halloween last year and left in the back of an early 90's Buick Superior. I must see pictures of yours!

My parents were married on Halloween of 1970. I’ll dig up some pics of mine

When my partner gets out of school next May I want to divert some funds towards the hearse. I’ve owned it 10 years but haven’t don’t much with it in the last five.

I almost pulled the trigger on a 1973 Miller-Meteor near me that has a stretcher and bedpan and other era specific equipment. I need a fence around my property more right now though, so I couldn’t go through with it. 73 is not my favorite year but it was in decent shape and had lights!

Nothing wrong with that. It’s all about priorities. The time will come and it’ll be worth the wait!

That’s cool, especially since it had the period equipment. That stuff is just as hard to find in decent shape as the vehicle.
